making it happen

It has been called one of the most important strategic locations in Scotland. And its transformation will be one of the most exciting developments in Renfrew’s history.

Not surprisingly, a great deal of planning has gone into the project, stretching back nearly 20 years. Braehead Shopping Centre, Ikea, the Titanium Business Park and New Audi Experience were Phase I of the project.

Capital Shopping Centres developed the hugely successful Braehead Shopping Centre and Retail Park, including the surrounding infrastructure, in the late 1990’s at an investment of circa £300m. Phase II is the regeneration of over 185 acres of derelict waterfront land stretching from Braehead Shopping Centre to Renfrew Town Centre.

Advance Infrastructure
Phase I £35 million
Phase II £15 million on site
£3 - 5 million enabling works
Porcelanosa / Shiels Gate

Decontamination
£3 million spent already
£4 - 5 million still to spend

To ensure the successful delivery of this significant urban regeneration project, which it’s estimated will take 10 years to complete, a new public/private sector partnership has been created.

Called Renfrew Riverside, the new partnership which is focused on enhancing the economy and quality of life in the area, comprises:
